It’s a beautiful sunny afternoon after what seems like weeks of rain and I got just a bit of time to myself to get crafty. I sat down with the new stamp set from the Stampin’ Up occasions catalog called Beauty Abounds and I am in love with the bokeh stamps in this set. I will be using them a LOT! It’s kind of like the retired set Gorgeous Grunge.
The Beauty Abounds stamp set has coordinating Butterfly Beauty dies. I snipped the butterflies apart to make this lovely scrapbook layout using the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper. I stamped the bokeh in Grapefruit Grove to coordinate.
This double page layout has gotten to me and I’m ready to go work on my spring flowers pots, the front porch or yard. It’s that time are you ready? I love to look around and see all the shades of spring. The depth of all the greens and the trees burst into bloom and the butterflies start fluttering around in the sunshine. It’s a beautiful day. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
Good evening everyone, I hope you are having a fabulous day. I know I am. My boys have been playing in a pre season basketball tournament the last couple of days and I have been running home between games to work on a card. I promise you don’t want to miss this one!
I don’t know how I missed the train with these adorable box cards but they are so EASY to create and look incredible. I can’t wait to teach this card in a Christmas class so please let me know if you are interested.
I found the inspiration piece browsing Pinterest last year and never got around to trying it till this year. Anyone with me out there? I know all my crafty friends try everything you pin right? Here is the inspiration piece which I used as a launching point and a really awesome blog to check out while you are there. The YouTube tutorial is an excellent video that shares all the details and measurements to create an exploding box card. Know what makes these cards even more awesome? They fit in a normal A2 envelope! That’s right folks, you don’t have to buy or make a different size envelope for this card. I like Stampin Up’s envelope punch board but sometimes I just like to grab an envelope and go. I guess I get a little lazy sometimes. Especially around the holidays when I am in a time crunch.
I mixed it up and used an array of products on this card. It uses the owl builder punch, tree punch and cupcake builder punch from the annual Stampin’ Up catalog along with the Lots of Joy stamp set. I love that Stampin’ Up included holiday stamps in the annual catalog this year. I used the Softly Falling Textured Embossing Folder from the holiday catalog and I must admit I adore the new 6″ X 6″ size. It’s so versatile! Square cards anyone?
I kept the color palette really simple using only Basic Black, Whisper White, Real Red and Wild Wasabi. I think it keeps it really crisp and clean. I debated whether to ink the edge of the Merry Christmas sentiment but in the end I just popped it up with a couple of dimensionals. I hope your not tired of all the photos because I really wanted to include a top view.
I think the cupcake builder punch made really great mounds of snow and gave the card a little more dimension. I finished it off with some Real Red ribbon and tada you have a Christmas card that will impress even the most discerning family member. You made that? Of course you did!
Last but not least I know you want to see a picture of my athletic son right?
That’s Trevor number 54. He has been a rebounding machine the last couple of days and I’m really proud of him. Of course while attending the tournament I got to visit with one of my best friends Tiffany Aaron. She is an amazing baker and maybe I can talk her into sharing some of her delicious cookie recipes on the blog sometime.
Today’s card was inspired by my love for the beach. It has a whisper white cardstock base with Pool Party blue matting and ink. I used my Aqua Painters to get a watercolor effect. The stamps are all from the Stampin Up Wetlands set which happens to be a favorite of mine. This set has been around for awhile but is still in the annual catalog and gets inked up a lot. The fence is my favorite part of this card and it is a piece of rough burlap that I pulled threads to get that effect. The sand pipers are just darling and make me want to make a quick trip to the beach this weekend. There is not much better than sitting on the beach all day with my family along with my best friend and her children. We make an annual trip to the beach with several families and it is something I look forward to every year.
Someone actually asked me if we gathered up all the kids on the beach and took this picture and I laughed and said “no”. This happens to be all friends and family.
Hello everyone! It’s been an exciting couple of days at my house. I received a workshop order that also had a bunch of holiday goodies for me. Yay! From perusing the holiday catalog my favorite stamp set was the Wonderland set and I could not wait to get my hands on it. I have viewed some gorgeous cards made with that product suite. I had card ideas going round in my head like a carousel but by the time I sat down at my craft table all I could think about was the Flurry of Wishes in peppermint stripes. The stripes just seem to invoke a feeling of traditional Christmas. What do you think? I know it’s not the traditional cool color collection for snowflakes but I think it works. I used Real Red and Whisper White along with several rhinestones. The snowflakes and sentiment are from the Flurry of Wishes and the stripes are from Butterfly Basics. I did stamp off several of the snowflakes to give the tonal effect without using additional ink colors.
I said I have been super busy and yesterday my 15 year old son bought his first vehicle. The paperwork for that tied up most of my afternoon. He has patiently been saving because he thought he had to have a vehicle by the time he got his drivers license! At this time he only has his learners permit. I am really proud that he has been so responsible and not expected his parents to buy him a car.
Good morning everyone! This card is very similar to one I made the other day but still a CAS or clean and simple card. I have been working on some basic cards for some new stampers that I have. I want to introduce them to card making and stamping in a way that they will enjoy it and not be overwhelmed from the start. Remember those days when you were just starting out and had just a limited amount of supplies to work with? Now I think I’m one ink pad shy of a hoarders episode!
Once again the color palette was very simple using only Night of Navy, Whisper White and silver sequins. I used Night of Navy for the card base and the mat is Whisper White stamped in Night of Navy using the Dotty Angles stamp set. The sentiment is the Happy Birthday everyone which is one of my favorites out of the annual catalog. It is one of the hostess sets so be sure to host a workshop so you can snag this one at a great price. The silver sequins were stapled to the top left corner.
I received a workshop order from Stampin’ Up yesterday and I can’t wait to play with all my new goodies. My favorite from the Holiday catalog is the wonderland Stamp set. I plan to use this in a stamp a stack soon. I also tried out the new archival basic black ink and I love it so far. I use stazon a lot but like the fact that the basic black does not have that tackiness to it that stazon does. You know how sometimes you have to peel the paper away from the stamp?
Well I guess I need to get busy. There is work to be done especially if I want to craft later. But I’ll leave you with a glimpse of some the goodies I ordered.
Good afternoon fellow paper crafters. I’m back today with a simple card from the Dotty Angles stamp set. The sentiment is one of the hostess sets called Happy Birthday Everyone. That has been my go to sentiment set since the release of the new Stampin Up catalog. It’s a favorite of the ladies in my card classes too. The color palette is simple using only Whisper White, Night of Navy and a few silver sequins. The sequins really dress this card up making it simply elegant in my opinion. Don’t forget to dress your envelope. No naked envelopes allowed! Flip that envelope over and stamp it with the dots also. I challenge you this week to send a card to someone who has been on your mind. Lift their spirits when they open the mailbox and have some happy mail! Anything is better than a bill right? I’d love to hear who you send a card to. Please feel free to comment and share your story.
Good morning everyone! I hope this Labor Day finds you relaxing some where peaceful and not working. We will be headed out to the river in a little while to make some memories with the kids but first I wanted to show you this CAS card. It came together in less than ten minutes and satisfied my need to make something this morning. I used the Crafty boot challenges sketch this morning and already had a color combo in my head. The color combo was Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Soft Sky. I hope you enjoy this quick simple card as much as I do. It seemed like such a soft fall color combo. Well enjoy your holiday weekend and make something crafty!
