Gotta Love “Everything Eleanor”!

Everything Eleanor & Trust God stamp sets
Good morning everyone! I hope you are having an incredible weekend, maybe doing something exciting or relaxing on the couch. I have worked most of this weekend but finally got a chance for some papercrafting therapy. I don’t know why cutting, coloring and gluing relaxes me, but it does. I guess that’s why I have never pursued digital scrapbooking. I tell myself card making and scrapbooking is cheaper than therapy, right?

I have been exploring challenges out in the blogging world and have really enjoyed them. It helps to get the mojo flowing and definitely makes me think outside the box. I was really excited to be chosen as a runner up in last weeks Water Cooler Wednesday Challenge. Congratulations to Lynn for winning with a beautiful Ombré sleigh ride card.

Todays card was inspired by the challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches. I really struggled with Rita’s sketch at first but then I started looking around my desk and found a scrap of Everyday Chic designer series paper. That set the base color for my card. I used a basic black card base and cut a piece of Whisper White paper into the banner shape as shown on the sketch. I started browsing through my stamps to looks for something new or something I hadn’t used in a while and came across the Everything Eleanor stamp set. It is such a lovely feminine set that I bought at one of my first Stampin Up parties. I used the solid mat stamp to stamp a background on the whisper white banner in Pink Pirouette.  I then used the Trust God stamp set to stamp the sentiment using the new archival Basic Black ink. The live simply sentiment fit pefectly on the banner. I then cut a piece of Pink Pirouette ribbon and tied a small knot and adhered it to the front of the card over the everyday chic paper. I cut a smaller banner from the Pink Piroutte ribbon and adhered it under the larger banner. I like the way it came together. Clean and simple which tends to be the way I like to create.

Penguin Box Christmas Card made from the Stampin’ Up owl punch

Good evening everyone, I hope you are having a fabulous day. I know I am. My boys have been playing in a pre season basketball tournament the last couple of days and I have been running home between games to work on a card. I promise you don’t want to miss this one!

I don’t know how I missed the train with these adorable box cards but they are so EASY to create and look incredible. I can’t wait to teach this card in a Christmas class so please let me know if you are interested.

I found the inspiration piece browsing Pinterest last year and never got around to trying it till this year. Anyone with me out there? I know all my crafty friends try everything you pin right? Here is the inspiration piece which I used as a launching point and a really awesome blog to check out while you are there. The YouTube tutorial is an excellent video that shares all the details and measurements to create an exploding box card. Know what makes these cards even more awesome? They fit in a normal A2 envelope! That’s right folks, you don’t have to buy or make a different size envelope for this card. I like Stampin Up’s envelope punch board but sometimes I just like to grab an envelope and go. I guess I get a little lazy sometimes. Especially around the holidays when I am in a time crunch.

I mixed it up and used an array of products on this card. It uses the owl builder punch, tree punch and cupcake builder punch from the annual Stampin’ Up catalog along with the Lots of Joy stamp set. I love that Stampin’ Up included holiday stamps in the annual catalog this year. I used the Softly Falling Textured Embossing Folder from the holiday catalog and I  must admit I adore the new 6″ X 6″ size. It’s so versatile! Square cards anyone?

I kept the color palette really simple using only Basic Black, Whisper White, Real Red and Wild Wasabi. I think it keeps it really crisp and clean. I debated whether to ink the edge of the Merry Christmas sentiment but in the end I just popped it up with a couple of dimensionals. I hope your not tired of all the photos because I really wanted to include a top view.

I think the cupcake builder punch made really great mounds of snow and gave the card a little more dimension. I finished it off with some Real Red ribbon and tada you have a Christmas card that will impress even the most discerning family member. You made that? Of course you did!

Last but not least I know you want to see a picture of my athletic son right?

Cleburne County Christian School That’s Trevor number 54. He has been a rebounding machine the last couple of days and I’m really proud of him. Of course while attending the tournament I got to visit with one of my best friends Tiffany Aaron. She is an amazing baker and maybe I can talk her into sharing some of her delicious cookie recipes  on the blog sometime.

Definitely Dahlia Birthday Card

Hello, I’m back from a short weekend getaway and feeling guilty about abandoning my blog for a few days. The flip side of it is that I got to spend a few days with my childhood friend Missy Reynolds of 28 years! She is the one that sucked me into the paper crafting world and I hate to admit it took two years for her to convince me to start scrapbooking and eventually card making. She also coerced me into signing up for my first Stampin’ Up! club. Is that not insane? She ask me all the time how she has been paper crafting longer than me and I own more stuff. I guess I hit the ground running!

I’m pretty new to the challenge scene but my card today was created for a couple of different challenges. The first is the  TGIF Challenge. That particular challenge simply required you to make a birthday themed card.

The next challenge is the Stampin Royalty Challenge #295. This was a color challenge that required you to use Crumbcake, Lost Lagoon and Whisper White.

I hope you enjoyed the card I presented today. Feel free to stop by and chat. I love visitors!

Wonderland Christmas card using ombré technique

Greetings everyone! I’m excited to show you something a little different that I worked on yesterday. As I stated in a previous post I have a lot of elegant eggplant cardstock left from a bridal shower I hosted a few months ago and I want to use it for some non traditional Christmas cards. This is one of the cards I created.

Wonderland Christmas card using ombré technique
The card base is elegant eggplant with a thin whisper white mat. I used whisper white for the the stamping also. I punched a 1 3/4 inch circle mask and adhered it in the upper right corner using a temporary adhesive. Using a brayer and an elegant eggplant stamp pad I turned the mat sideways and rolled and lifted the brayer after each swipe moving slightly left each time.  Cover the entire piece bottom to top. Blending is key here. You do not want stripes. Remove your circle mask to reveal the moon. Be careful not to smear the ink, it’s easy to do. Use archival black ink to stamp your trees using the wonderland stamp set. Stamp the sentiment on the bottom center with versamark. Sprinkle with silver embossing powder and tap off the excess. Use a heat tool to set and voila your done!

I’m using this card in the Watercooler Wednesday challenge. This was a new technique for me and I had fun experimenting with it. I can’t wait to see what all the fellow papercrafters submit. I’m new to challenges but am enjoying playing along with everyone.

Crazy About You Birthday

Good afternoon. Sorry I’m a little bit late posting today. Here in Central Arkansas we are enjoying beautiful sunny days that just go perfect wth this card.

It has very clean lines with a modern feel and I really like it. The Daffodil Delight and Whisper White are so bright and crisp. I did pop up the white embossed piece. Remember, no naked envelopes allowed! Stamp a little something on there.

Hope you enjoyed this quick and easy card.

Wonderland Christmas Card

Good morning everyone! I hope your day is off to a fabulous start. I know mine is. I got to spend a few minutes in my craft area before work today and this is what I came up with.

I was pondering how to use up some supplies that I had for Christmas cards in some non traditional colors. I’m usually very traditional when it comes to Christmas, but I have lots of Elegant Eggplant cardstock left from a bridal shower I hosted a few months ago that I need to use. I got to thinking about the smoky purple haze of mountains in the distance and thought that effect would make a beautiful card. Add in the trees from the new Wonderland stamp set and you have the perfect snowy mountain scene. The trees remind me of a trip to Pikes Peak this summer and I can’t wait to use them on a scrapbook layout.

Sheltering Tree Birthday Card

Good morning! It’s Monday and that means back to work and school for my family after an adventerous weekend. I dread going back to the ho hum after a relaxing weekend but don’t we all?

Sheltering Tree birthday card
Today’s card is a belated birthday card from the sheltering tree stamp set. I love the versatility of this set because you can use it for so many things. Cards, scrapbook layouts and even wall art if you are feeling adventerous. I try to get my cards out on time but this one will be late. Better late than never right?
